Campus Alert

Westminster, MD─ Carroll Community College is pleased to announce the naming and dedication of two buildings on campus in recognition of two extraordinary legacies that have profoundly impacted our institution and community.

We are deeply honored to express our gratitude to Dr. Vimala Naganna and Dr. Chitrachedu Naganna (posthumously) for their remarkable contributions. The Nagannas’ dedication to education has left an indelible mark, and it is with great pride that we recognize their vision and generosity by naming the Naganna Center for Innovation building in their honor. Their commitment to empowering others through education is a guiding force that will live on through the future generations of students at Carroll Community College. The family began their support of our students in 2007 by establishing the Naganna Endowed Scholarship.

Over the years, the family has added to this scholarship fund, enjoyed the annual scholarship reception, and appreciated the opportunity to meet and encourage our students. The Nagannas have also supported the endowed nursing professorship, the Lynx Scholars Program, and the STEM Scholars cohort program. With their understanding of the value that technology plays in educating our students, the Nagannas also contributed to a matching grant to leverage that investment even further.

“We are deeply grateful for the Naganna’s willingness to turn the hopes and dreams of our students into reality for generations to come,” said Steve Wantz executive director of the Foundation.

Additionally, we are excited and honored to name The Kahlert Foundation Campus Center in recognition of the extraordinary philanthropy of The Kahlert Foundation. Over the past decade, The Kahlert Foundation has had a transformational impact on the College, shaping the educational experience of our students through their generous support. Their investment in our programs, facilities, and resources has not only enhanced the quality of education but also significantly broadened the opportunities available to our community. The naming of The Kahlert  Foundation Campus Center symbolizes the lasting and meaningful partnership between the College and The Kahlert Foundation and stands as a testament to the power of philanthropy in shaping the future of higher education.

“The naming of these buildings is a momentous occasion for Carroll Community College,” said Dr. Rose Mince, President of Carroll Community College. “We are proud to honor the Nagannas, whose legacy in education continues to inspire us, as well as The Kahlert Foundation, whose generosity has helped transform the lives of so many students. These dedications reflect the values of our institution—commitment to excellence, community, and the advancement of education.”

The Naganna Center for Innovation Building houses science, technology, math, and communication classrooms. The Kahlert Foundation Campus Center houses student-centric offices, and the Babylon Great Hall, where students gather, participate in events, and collaborate.

The naming of these two buildings highlights the transformative impact that philanthropic contributions have on the life of the College and its students. It is a moment of deep gratitude, recognizing the vision and generosity of those who help create a brighter future for all.
