Carroll Community College, Advantage C and Magic Present Virtual Conference Business Risks 2020 – Insurance, Legal and Finance Challenges of Cybersecurity
Westminster, Md., October 16, 2020—Carroll Community College (Carroll), its business consultation service Advantage C, and the Mid-Atlantic Gigabit Innovation Collaboratory (MAGIC) will present a virtual conference on the business risks associated with cybersecurity. The event will take place on November 16 from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm.
“We are pleased to provide this forum for business professionals to look beyond data security issues and learn best practices for managing their businesses effectively in light of the risks associated with cybersecurity,” said Dr. James D. Ball, President, Carroll Community College.
The conference will feature two keynote speakers who are experts in the legal, insurance and finance implications of cybersecurity:
- Ron Gula is a pioneer in the industry and co-founder of Tenable, a leader in cybersecurity solutions with more than 30,000 customers worldwide. He is currently the President of Gula Tech Adventures which has invested in dozens of cyber start-ups, as well as funds and supports multiple cyber nonprofits and projects.
- Sean McDonald is a CIGI senior fellow and the co-founder of Digital Public, which builds legal trusts to protect and govern digital assets. He is a lawyer and the CEO of FrontlineSMS, an award-winning global technology social enterprise.
“It is imperative that businesses of all types, from start-ups to large corporations, have a deep understanding of how to manage the constantly changing landscape of cyber threats,” said Graham Dodge, Executive Director of MAGIC, a technology incubator and innovation lab based in Westminster. “This conference perfectly aligns with our mission to help businesses understand not only the current technology landscape, but what the future may hold as well.”
Topics that will be covered include how businesses can mitigate their risks of cyber attacks, how much cybersecurity insurance is necessary, and how financing, loans and investments can be affected by risk exposure.
“Cybersecurity is one of the top concerns we have heard from members of the local business community,” said Janet Ladd, Senior Director of Corporate Services and Workforce Development, Advantage C. “Whether you are a corporate compliance or finance officer, legal or insurance professional, health care information manager, government contractor or business owner, keeping up to date with the latest developments is imperative for your business to thrive.”
The fee for the conference is $65 for early registration, which ends of October 31. For more information, including sponsorship opportunities, and to register, go to www.carrollcc.edu/BusinessRisks2020
