Empowering Entrepreneurs in Carroll County

Executive Summary

Miller: Resources for Entrepreneurs facilitated the launch of four new businesses and welcomed 13 new clients from around the county including Westminster, Taneytown, Eldersburg and Hampstead.

In collaboration with the Maryland Higher Education Commission, Miller was invited to lead a two-hour seminar via Zoom, with the assistance of an interpreter, on “Solutions for Startups and Entrepreneurs.” This seminar was attended by faculty from Anhui Province, China, and the University of Maryland Office of International Affairs. Carroll Community College received a $500 stipend for hosting the seminar.

Additionally, Miller presented its “Shark Tank Make Believe” workshop to 25 Oklahoma Middle School students as part of their Leadership Lunch Series. School Career Coach Jen Borcik shared the following feedback:

Dear Mr. Mazerski,
Thank you for taking time out of your day to speak for our Leadership Lunch Series. The students so enjoyed your presentation and discussion. They are very excited about all that Carroll Community College has to offer. Your presentation on “Shark Tank for Teens” was the perfect culminating activity for our Leadership Series.  It is always engaging, and the students have so much fun with it! Thank you again for your time for our students.

Testimonial

Rihevi Solutions is a home-based business located in Westminster, specializing in cleaning homes and businesses. Ricardo Herrera filed for both Maryland and Federal LLC status for Rihevi Solutions in November 2024, which was approved in late December 2024. He opened a business checking account in January 2025 and deposited the first check in March 2025.

I am from South America and speak little to no English. Through using Google Translate, Mr. Mazerski and I were able to communicate in many meetings in order for me to get my business up and running. Miller was the one who encouraged me to continue this venture, since they, at no cost, helped me overcome many obstacles in the language and gave me guidance for my new business registration.

On some calls I learned huge pivotal things, and sometimes a conversation only placed a tiny idea or tidbit in my head that was not there before—but those add up, and I wouldn’t have otherwise been offered that advice!
