In our HVACR Apprenticeship workforce training program, you can work fulltime while attending classes and achieve journeyman status in just 4 years. With previous experience or education, you may be able to skip the 1st year by passing an exam.
Approx. Number of Hours:
630 classroom hours (157 hours per year) and 8,000 on-the-job training hours.

Min. Occupational Requirements:
Must be employed by a licensed HVACR company and sponsored by that company for training, or find employment by the start of the second year; at least 18 years old.
HVACR Apprenticeship Job Overview
HVACR apprentices are tradesmen specializing in heating, ventilation and air conditioning/refrigeration systems. Work may include installing, servicing and repairing heating and air conditioning systems in residences and commercial establishments.
Apprentices usually begin by assisting experienced technicians with such tasks as carrying materials, insulating refrigerant lines or cleaning furnaces. In time, they move on to more difficult tasks such as cutting and soldering pipes and checking electrical and electronic circuits.
This trade is regulated by the State of Maryland. The Maryland Apprenticeship and Training Council formulates apprenticeship policies and registers standards.
Licensure/certification earned
Upon successful completion of this training, you are awarded an HVACR Journeyman’s license.
