Accelerate Your Nursing Education
Carroll Community College partners with several universities to allow students to take classes towards their Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree while enrolled in our Nursing program.
By taking courses for your Associate of Science in Nursing degree at Carroll while at the same time pursuing Bachelor’s level coursework (including online courses) at a 4-year school, you can complete your BSN degree in as little as two semesters after graduating from our program.
Frequently Asked Questions
You can apply to the Nursing program at Carroll after completing pre-requisite courses with a GPA of 2.50 or greater. (Visit carrollcc.edu/ATBnursing to view list of pre-requisite courses.)
An Admission Exam (NLN NEX) is also required with a minimum score of 138.
You apply for the ATB program once you are accepted to Carroll’s nursing program. Classes can begin at the university you choose for your Bachelor’s degree during the first semester of our Nursing program.
It takes 4 semesters to complete an Associate’s degree at Carroll Community College. It could take as little as 6 months after graduating our program to complete a Bachelor’s degree.
Yes. After completion of an Associate of Science in Nursing degree, you are eligible to attempt the NCLEX-RN exam and begin practice as an RN. While working as an RN, you can then complete your coursework toward your Bachelor’s degree. While currently not required, many Maryland hospitals prefer their nurses to hold Bachelor’s degrees.
To be accepted into some of the universities, you will be required to take pre-requisite courses for Carroll’s Nursing program plus a few more required by the university. These may include chemistry, nutrition and/or statistics.
Accreditation
The Registered Nursing Associate of Science program was accredited on February 22, 2019 by the National League for Nursing, Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA), 2600 Virginia Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20037. Its next review is in 2025.
Upon graduating from Carroll’s Nursing program, students are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN).
