Description

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Have patrons fill out an Assumption of Risk form each semester.
  • Check in student/faculty/staff at the door by matching their ID to their appointment on the VR calendar.
  • Load experiences on headsets before a user’s appointment under the supervision of Lynx Lair Staff.
  • Act as a guardian for users in headsets by ensuring users remain in their play area and do not get tangled in cords.
  • Assist new users with using VR by learning handhelds for different experiences.
  • Assist students who need to record a VR assignment by launching the Windows Game Bar on the headset’s computer.
  • Sanitize headsets, handhelds, and stations after each use by wiping them with antibacterial wipes.
  • Assist Media in delivering computers/headsets to classrooms.
  • May be asked to wear a headset to provide an experience in a classroom.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to track entrance and exit of VR users.
  • Ability to open programs in Windows.
  • Ability to wear a VR headset and learn new experiences.
  • Ability to watch users and give directions to ensure their safety.
  • Ability to follow directions of Lab staff.
  • Must have a professional presentation.
  • Must have positive interpersonal skills.
  • High School Graduate.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Gaming experience.
  • VR Headset knowledge and experience.

HOURS NEEDED

  • Available during Lab Hours M-F 11am-4pm. Students do not need to be available during all lab hours.

  • Complete the FAFSA for Federal Work Study Positions
  • Be registered for at least six credits with a 2.0 GPA
  • Student Workers under the age of 18 must provide a valid work permit prior to starting employment
  • If eligible, your application will be forwarded to supervisors with open positions
  • The application will be held for one year, July 1 to June 30

What to Expect

  • Interview with the hiring supervisor for the position of interest.
  • If selected, you and your supervisor must complete all federal, state and college forms. This document is obtained from your supervisor or the Human Resources webpage.
  • Complete and submit all federal, state, and college employment forms. The I-9 is submitted to your supervisor and the other forms are submitted to studentemployment@carrollcc.edu
  • Create a work schedule with your supervisor that does not conflict with your class schedule.
  • When all forms are turned in you and your supervisor will be notified so a start date can be established.
