JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for overseeing various social media channels targeting different audiences.  It strategizes, creates, curates, and manages content that aligns with the College’s brand identity while effectively engaging a diverse audience base.  This position collaborates with the Assistant Director, Digital Marketing and Strategy and other departments to ensure consistency with broader institutional goals and objectives. This involves guiding and approving posts made by student social media ambassadors, implementing best practices, and monitoring analytics to optimize content strategy and engagement metrics. Overall, the role focuses on enhancing the College’s online presence and fostering positive interactions with its community through effective social media management. It reports to the Assistant Director, Digital Marketing and Strategy.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Content planning, creation and curation
  • Community engagement
  • Provide analytics, monitoring and reporting
  • Provide guidance and approval of student ambassador posts
  • Stay up to date on social media platforms and trends
  • Collaborate with Digital Marketing Manager and other departments
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:

  • Associate Degree in marketing, communications, business or related field and two years related experience.
  • Knowledge of and ability to stay up to date on various social media platforms and trends.
  • Proficient with MS Office and social media platforms (i.e. Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn etc.)
  • Ability to adhere to guidelines and brand standards while determining specific strategies and approaches for executing tasks.
  • Ability to understand specific audiences and platform dynamics.
  • Ability to problem solve and creatively strategize.
  • Ability to complete tasks quickly and effectively in a fast-paced and changing environment.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to exhibit professional behavior at all times
  • Ability to work independently or in a group, along with the ability to work on campus as needed
  • Must be positive, cooperative and supportive

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The work is normally sedentary which requires the ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:

  • Hear/talk/communicate – Must be able to exchange information and communicate
  • Visual acuity – Ability to perceive or detect surroundings
  • Mental acuity – Able to focus, concentrate, understand, and convey subject matter
  • Repetitive motion (i.e., keyboarding)
  • Stand/sit/walk/able to move or traverse from one area to another

WORK ENVIRONMENT:     

College campus, direct contact with diverse students, staff, faculty and the general public in classrooms, common areas, offices, and campus environments. Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as office, meeting, and training rooms. Use of safe workplace practices with office equipment; computers for data entry and word processing with some highly technical applications and new technology systems; avoidance of trips and falls; observance of fire and building safety regulations; observance of college vehicle policies and laws when/if driving a college vehicle and observance of all college policies.  Work hours may vary as assigned by supervisor (not to exceed 29 hours per week).
