JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for the development, marketing, promotion, and coordination of new and existing non-credit workforce training certificate programs (i.e. Special Police Officer, Paralegal, Security Guard etc.) to meet local workforce needs.  It reports to the Dean, Workforce, Innovation and Community Advancement.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Develops, launches, and manages new and existing workforce training certificate programs for skill development and career preparation based on industry and technology trends and community needs.
  • Uses data driven analysis, forecasts, and research to identify trends and certification/license requirements to expand educational programming and meet local needs.
  • Works with internal and external resources to market new and existing non-credit workforce training programs.
  • Manages, monitors and reports on revenue to meet annual revenue and FTE goals.
  • Coordinates and schedules existing workforce training certificate programs that meet both local and regional workforce needs.
  • Responsible for the student advising support, navigation of student issues, and continuing quality improvement initiatives for courses.
  • Makes recommendations to the Dean regarding inventory management to ensure quality of instruction.
  • Prepares documentation for reporting to the Maryland Higher Education Commission.
  • Works with and provide guidance to WBCE, Directors and Senior Directors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:

  • Associate degree and three years related experience; Additional experience may be considered in lieu of Associate Degree
  • Experience with MS Office and ability to use technology/programs required
  • Strong collaborative skills and ability to exercise professional judgment
  • Ability to use and interpret data
  • Proficient in building rapport with target audiences, stakeholders, and the general public
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills
  • Ability to think strategically and to develop and implement effective work plans
  • Ability to set and prioritize goals, budgetary decisions and resource allocation

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree and three years’ related experience
  • Experience in law enforcement /Special Police Officer (SPO) Training

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The work is normally light work which requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:

  • Hear/talk/communicate – Must be able to exchange information and communicate
  • Visual Acuity – Ability to perceive or detect surroundings
  • Mental Acuity – Able to focus, concentrate, understand, and convey subject matter
  • Repetitive motion (i.e., keyboarding)
  • Stand/sit/walk/able to move or traverse from one area to another

WORK ENVIRONMENT:     

College campus, direct contact with diverse students, staff, faculty and the general public in classrooms, shared areas, common areas, offices, and campus environments. Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as office, meeting, and training rooms.  Use of safe work place practices with office equipment; computers for data entry and word processing with some highly technical applications and new technology systems; avoidance of trips and falls; observance of fire and building safety regulations and College policies. Work hours may vary <29 hours per week.
