Impact your Community! This part-time position will work closely with key campus offices as they guide Hispanic students and families toward their academic goals.
JOB SUMMARY
This position provides outreach and recruiting support to the College by assisting in enrollment efforts of Hispanic students and families. It reports to the Discipline Coordinator, World Languages.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Communicate with prospective students and families in person or remotely to connect them to College resources.
- Interact and engage in the Hispanic community to bring forth pertinent information and concerns to help develop institutional solutions and meet student needs.
- Attend on- and off-campus recruiting events and information sessions.
- Communicate with Admissions staff regarding prospective students.
- Provide support with translation projects
- Assist with drafting reports, policies and other procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:
- Bachelor’s Degree and two years related experience
- Must be bilingual (Spanish-English)
- Experience and familiarity with the US school system
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-department team
- Ability to effectively communicate with potential students and their families
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (including MS Teams and presentation software)
- Must be positive, cooperative and supportive
Preferences:
- Experience and familiarity with the Maryland school system
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The work is normally light work which requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Periodically, it requires standing for longer periods of time during presentations or fairs. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:
- Hear/talk/communicate – Must be able to exchange information and communicate
- Visual Acuity/ability to perceive or detect surroundings
- Mental acuity – Able to focus, concentrate, understand and convey subject matter
- Repetitive motion (i.e. keyboarding)
- Stand/sit/walk/able to move or traverse from one area to another
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
College campus, direct contact with diverse students, staff, faculty and the general public in classrooms, common areas, offices, and campus environments. Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as office, meeting, and training rooms. Use of safe work place practices with office equipment; computers for data entry and word processing with some highly technical applications and new technology systems; avoidance of trips and falls; observance of fire and building safety regulations and College policies. This is a part time position (estimated 10 – 12 hours per month).
