FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Lab hours are M-F 11a – 4p with occasional changes in hours due to special events.

JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for staffing the college’s Virtual Reality lab, supervising student employees, installing and troubleshooting VR equipment and gaming computers, and providing assistance and instruction to student, faculty, and staff users. This position will also provide occasional digital video production support for the college including camera operation and editing as needed. This position reports to the Director of Digital Learning and Media Services.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Staff the Virtual Reality lab and supervise student employees.
  • Install, troubleshoot, update, and maintain virtual reality equipment and computers.
  • Instruct and assist users with virtual reality content and equipment.
  • Create advertising posters/flyers for virtual reality.
  • Digital video production to create content of approved events, classes, and library resources. Includes camera operation, editing, and file conversion/creation.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Job Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:

  • Associate degree
  • Experience with virtual reality equipment, software, and technology
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, Photoshop, etc.)
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Experience with streaming
  • Availability to work days and occasional nights or weekends

Preferred Qualifications:

  • LMS experience (Blackboard, Canvas, D2L or other)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The work is normally light-medium work which requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 30 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.   Periodically, this position may require standing for periods of time while videoing and delivering media carts which require effort to push. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:

  • Climbing, reaching, stooping, bending
  • Hear/talk/communicate – Must be able to exchange information and communicate
  • Visual Acuity/ability to perceive or detect surroundings
  • Mental acuity – Able to focus, concentrate, understand, and convey subject matter
  • Repetitive motion (i.e., keyboarding)
  • Stand/sit/walk/able to move or traverse from one area to another

WORK ENVIRONMENT:  

College campus, direct contact with diverse students, staff, faculty and the general public in classrooms, common areas, offices, and campus environments. Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as office, meeting, and training rooms. Use of safe workplace practices with office equipment; computers for data entry and word processing with some highly technical applications and new technology systems; avoidance of trips and falls; observance of fire and building safety regulations; observance of college vehicle policies and laws when/if driving a college vehicle and observance of all college policies.  Work hours may vary <29 hours per week.  Lab hours are M-F 11a – 4p with occasional changes in hours due to special events.
