Advising for Military Personnel
Our Academic Advisors guide veterans, active duty personnel, their spouses and dependents on choosing the appropriate courses and steps toward meeting their educational goals.
Advisors Assist Students with:
- Returning to college after an extended absence.
- Transferring courses from another institution or an ACE-approved military educational program.
- Starting college for the first time.
When selecting courses, advisors work closely with the College’s Veteran Certifying Official to assist GI Benefit eligible students in selecting appropriate courses to maintain VA Educational Benefit payment eligibility.
Online credit courses are an ideal option for students who are deployed to a remote location. Although online courses offer much convenience, they are just as challenging as on-campus courses. A three-hour course typically requires 7 – 12 hours of study time.
Students taking online courses must have excellent time management and organizational skills, and have the ability to read, learn and assimilate course material independently. Students interested in online courses should take our online learning assessment.
