With placement testing, Carroll assesses your readiness for college-level courses. After testing, you will receive results from an adviser, and be directed to complete the Online Pre-Advising session.
The Online Pre-Advising session explains prerequisites, selecting courses, transferring and registering. Complete the online session and quiz, prepare a schedule, and then visit the Advising and Transfer Center (A102). An adviser will review your test results, your academic or transfer goals, and your academic plan before approving your registration or leading you through the online registration process.
Call Admissions at 410-386-8430 with questions about placement testing or visit A101.
Carroll administers placement tests on a walk-in basis during specific times.
Walk in during the following times:
- Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
- Friday from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
- Saturday from 9 a.m. - 11 a.m.
Begin your test within these times to finish before the center closes. You must finish your testing prior to 6:30 p.m. to visit with an adviser. If you finish after 6:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 4 p.m. on Friday or test on Saturday, you will need to visit the college again to obtain your results.
Complete your enrollment application prior to testing. Your waiting time will be eliminated if your enrollment application is completed in advance (at least one day prior to testing).
On your test day, bring a photo ID (driver's license preferred) and arrive 15 minutes early to check-in with the Admissions office. While the tests are untimed, you should allow 2-1/2 to 3 hours to complete the tests.
If you require special test accommodations, you must make an appointment with Disability Support Services at 410-386-8327 or 410-386-8329 to discuss accommodations prior to testing. If special equipment is required to complete your placement test, an appointment may be required.
