Sherrill Cooper, Paintings from the Tree House
Reception: Sunday, Sept. 15, 2 - 4 p.m.
Sunday, Sept. 15 - Friday, Oct. 11
Sherrill Cooper paints in a tree house studio in the middle of an oak forest in Carroll County. Like many artists before her, Cooper has pursued a successful, 30 year career as an illustrator. Because of quick deadlines, oil paint as a medium was never a practical option for illustration. Now that she has the luxury of using this medium, she finds it a natural progression of her artistic growth. She seeks to distill all of her experiences into each painting with her fresh concepts, strong design sensibilities, emotional brushstrokes and rich textural color. In addition to numerous illustration and painting awards she is represented by several galleries and has work in private and corporate collections throughout the world. She is a member of The Oil Painters of America.
Joseph Paul Cassar, Recent Works on Paper
Reception: Sunday, Oct. 20, 2 - 4 p.m.
Sunday, Oct. 20 - Friday, Nov. 22
Dr. Joseph Cassar is interested in the relationships and fusion of form and color to create harmonious compositions. His art exploits the separate identity of shapes and their effect on neighboring elements. He doesn’t work with preconceived ideas but allows the work to develop as an intimate encounter. At times a subject may appear; however, he is primarily concerned with expressive abstract compositions. He strongly believes in an art practice that takes risks in order to experience reward. Cooper has multiple degrees, his PhD from the University of Malta and has taught for 28 years at many institutions in both the U.S. and Europe, served on the international Baccalaureate Committee, and is a man of many interests and talents.

Sunday, Oct. 20 - Friday, Nov. 22
Award winning photographer Tammy Thompson is Maryland’s Photographer of the Year because she is passionate about most things in life: photography, health, fitness and close personal relationships. In 2006, she was the victim of a terrible car accident. During her recovery she learned to overcome the impossible and create hope inside when the future seemed hopeless. Out of those dark years emerged a strong, driven and grateful woman. She has been a digital editor for 13 years and a professional photographer since 2004. She specializes in custom fine art portraits for clients and for fine art exhibit sales. She is a member of the Professional Photographers of America and MD Professional Photographers Association. Carroll Student Work: How My iPhone Sees the World
Monday, Nov. 18 - Friday, Dec. 13
This exhibit is dedicated to the ever developing technology of iPhone photography. Although not comparable to a good dSLR, yet, the images captured by millions of people every day all over the world have changed the way we see the world. Immediate, spontaneous and often raw, iPhones capture and disseminate our daily human existence, and make the private exceedingly public, the mundane sometimes surprisingly elevated.
