Westminster, Md., Feb. 24, 2014—Libby Trostle, director of Workforce Training and Business Services at Carroll Community College (Carroll), recently earned certification as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR). The certification, awarded by the Alexandria-based HR Certification Institute, signifies that Trostle possesses the theoretical knowledge and practical experience in human resources management necessary to pass a rigorous examination demonstrating a mastery of the field.
“Certification as a human resource professional clearly demonstrates a commitment to personal excellence and to the human resource profession,” said Mary Power, CAE, executive director of the HR Certification Institute.
To become certified, an applicant must pass a comprehensive examination and demonstrate a strong background of professional human resource experience.
“My role at the college is to work with area employers, including local human resource leaders, to identify their organizational development needs and to determine how the college can help their employees and organizations perform better,” said Trostle. “Our training and services are designed to help employers maximize their human capital, align training with strategic goals, and achieve results.”
“This national certification enables our clients to immediately recognize my expertise in the areas of human resources and organizational development. I am able to consult with clients to learn about their strategic objectives, and recommend the College’s training, consulting and assessment services to help them achieve their business goals.”
“I am exceedingly pleased with Ms. Trostle’s accomplishment. This demonstrates that she is indeed a leader in the industry who offers great advantages to community organizations,” said College President Dr. Faye Pappalardo.
The HR Certification Institute is the credentialing body for human resource professionals and is affiliated with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the world’s largest organization dedicated exclusively to the human resource profession. The Institute’s purpose is to promote the establishment of professional standards and to recognize professionals who meet those standards.
