Internships - Guidelines

  • You must have completed or be exempt from READ-099 and/or READ-101, have a minimum of 12 credit hours and be currently enrolled as a Carroll student.
  • You may only have a total of six internship credit hours within one degree program.
  • Any internship beyond six credit hours will not receive academic credit.
  • Internships for academic credit must be completed during the term in which you are enrolled.
  • To start the internship process, schedule an interview with the Coordinator of Experiential Learning and Student Organizations.
  • The Internship Course Agreement (ICA) including the Memorandum of Understanding must be completed at the beginning of the internship.
  • You may not be an intern in your current position/job description.
  • Internships can be paid and unpaid. In the case of paid internships, wage rates are discussed between the you and employer. The college does not intervene regarding pay rates. 
  • You must attend and reflect upon one Career Development Center workshop during the term of your internship.
  • Your student record is reviewed for academic and behavioral integrity violations. Determination for internship access is made on a case by case basis by the Internship Committee.
