Matting and Framing

Bring in your artwork, favorite family photos, memorabilia or anything you’d like to enhance with mat and frame. Learn to cut matboard to size and choose the best option for framing a project. Framing techniques include a discussion of archival methods. Basic tools and supplies are available, but students are encouraged to bring items to be matted or framed as well as various mat boards and possible frames. Some basic supplies are included. The Art of Instruction
 

Sarah Abel-DeLuca has an Masters of Fine Arts degree from Brooklyn College and has taught art for 20 years at high schools and colleges. Her work has been exhibited in Maryland and New York and hangs in private collections throughout the United States and Europe. As the owner of Sarah Abel-DeLuca, Artist (abelartist.com), she makes her living as a commissioned painter.

Joseph Paul Cassar, Ph.D., is an artist, art historian, curator and educator whose specialty is the modern and contemporary period of art history. He teaches at University of Maryland University College and Towson University among others and also lectures on the subject of sculpture in various educational institutions in Europe and the U.S.

Ken Ecker, a professional artist living and teaching art in New York City, draws on his passion for teaching art to bring out the creativity and talent of his students, both adult and youth.

Shirley Lippy, one of our most popular non-credit instructors, draws out the innate artistic ability that everyone has, and helps students unleash the right brain in order to be creative.

Jeremy Wright is a multi-talented performer and artist. Born Cree from the north-west plains of Canada, he was raised Quaker in MD. Wright enjoys working in mediums from wood to watercolor to ceramics. He holds a BFA in Ceramic Arts from Ohio University.
