Medical Assistant

A certified clinical medical assistant is an unlicensed multi-skilled health care practitioner competent in a variety of clinical and laboratory procedures and many administrative roles. Medical assistants perform routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep physician, podiatry, chiropractic and other health practitioner offices running smoothly. Medical assisting is projected to be one of the fastest growing occupations. Job prospects are best for medical assistants with formal training and certification.


Occupational Requirements

Most employers require 18 years or older and a high school diploma or GED®.


Information Unique to the Training

The program requires study time outside of class and includes college-level texts. All tests must be passed prior to the start of clinical training. Clinical requires written documentation of MMR and Varicella immunity, a negative TB test or chest x-ray within the last 12 months and Hepatitis B immunity or waiver. Clinical sites may require criminal background checks and drug screenings at an additional cost. Applications are required. Call 410-386-8100 for information.
