EMS-270, ALS Clinical Experience 1
EMS-270, ALS Clinical Experience 1, provides the paramedic intern an opportunity to experience, assess, interact and treat patients in various clinical settings. The focus of this course will be to incorporate all prior learning into a method of care that will establish the foundation of the student's personal practice. Students will tour inpatient facilities, and participate as a member of the ALS care team under direct ALS supervision. Prerequisites: EMS-231, EMS-240. Two hundred clinical hours, twenty lecture hours. Four credits. Four billable hours. Additional $75 fee required. Offered Fall term only.
Course Objectives and Grading Information
1. Students will provide supervised ALS care to a variety of patients. (Program 1,2,3,4,5,6; Gen Ed 1,2,3,6,7)
2. Students will perform full range of practical skills as evaluated by NREMTP. (Program 1,2,4; Gen Ed 1,3,7)
3. Students will discuss various clinical conditions and identify appropriate treatments of patients in various clinical settings. (Program 1,2,3,4,5,6; Gen Ed 1,2,3,6,7)
