Course Description

OFFC-205, Advanced Word, advances students' ability to create and enhance text-based documents while using Microsoft Word software. Students use introductory skills to apply advanced skills to manage and share documents, design advanced documents, create advanced references, and create custom elements. Upon successful completion of this course students will be prepared to complete the Microsoft Word 2013 Expert Certification Exam. It is suggested that students possess basic technology skills to be successful in this course. Prerequisite: exemption/ completion of OFFC-115. Three lecture hours each week. Three credits. Three billable hours.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
1. Manage and share documents using Microsoft Word software. Specific skills include: set tracking options, limit authors, restricting editing, remove metadata, mark as final and passcode protect documents. (General Education Goal 4, Program Goal 3)
2. Design advanced documents using Microsoft Word software. Specific skills include: apply advanced formatting, Web tools, and styles to documents. (General Education Goal 4, Program Goal 3)
3. Create advanced references using Microsoft Word software. Specific skills include: manage forms, fields, and mail merge operations. (General Education Goal 4, Program Goal 3)
4. Create custom elements using Microsoft Word software. Specific skills include: create and modify building blocks, custom style sets, and templates. (General Education Goal 4, Program Goal 3)
5. Automate documents using Microsoft Word software. Specific skills include: Record and run macros, and set macro security. (General Education Goal 4, Program Goal 3)
