Library - Borrowing Materials

Who may borrow?

  • Students, faculty, staff, and alumni of Carroll Community College.   All users are requested to present college I.D. card.
  • Holders of valid Carroll County Public Library (CCPL) cards or library cards with CCPL privileges.  Library card must be presented at check out.
  • Holders of valid McDaniel College I.D. cards.  Library card must be presented at check out.
  • Maryland community college students and faculty with valid I.D. cards.

Borrower's responsibilities

  • I.D. cards may only be used by the holder of the card.  Cards are not transferable.
  • If a card is lost, it must be reported lost as soon as possible.  The cardholder will be held liable for materials checked out to an unreported lost card.
  • The Library reserves the right to revoke borrowing privileges for those who do not return material or who violate Library regulations.

Loan periods

  • Circulating books may be borrowed for 21 days.
  • Circulating videotapes may be checked out for three days.
  • Reserved materials may be checked out for same day use in the Library only.
  • Reserved materials, reference books, instructional audiovisual materials,  and periodicals do not circulate.  Selected telecourse tapes circulate to Carroll Community College students only.

Maximum number of items and fines

  • A maximum of 12 circulating items may be accumulated per card.
  • A maximum of 6 circulating items to community borrowers (includes Carroll Community College alumni.)
  • No late fines are charged to Carroll Community College card holders for Carroll Community College library materials, however, fines are charged for materials borrowed from the Carroll County Public Library or McDaniel College's Hoover Library.  Users are encouraged to return all materials in a timely manner.
  • Fines for other borrowers are $.25 per day.

Lost or damaged materials

  • Library users will be billed for the replacement costs of lost or damaged materials.
  • Users with unpaid bills will not receive transcripts and will not be able to register for classes until their records are cleared.  Library privileges will be revoked for those who accumulate an unpaid bill.
  • Community borrowers will have borrowing privileges blocked if they have unsettled charges, overdue materials, or if they owe more than $10 at their home institution.
