This dynamic session reinforces the significant role HR plays in creating a more positive work environment. Stress can have a negative impact on the morale and productivity of employees, but a conscious effort to nurture more positive attitudes and develop strategies for coping with these stresses is critical to the success of any organization!
Get an overview of recent developments in federal and Maryland employment law. Particular focus is on recent Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (“EEOC”) interpretations and litigation involving the Americans with Disabilities Act, including cases dealing with medical leaves of absence and no fault attendance policies.
The session also addresses the National Labor Relations Board’s recent expansion of the definition of concerted protected activity, and its application to employer restrictions on employee use of social media, such as email, Facebook, Twitter, etc. Time is provided to answer questions.

Hear from experts tied directly into Maryland’s Health Insurance Exchange, as well as experts on the topics of PPACA, ERISA and Health Insurance Law. The discussion focuses primarily on Maryland’s implementation of both an individual and SHOP exchange, and how these exchanges supplement and interact with the private, employer sponsored health insurance marketplace.
Additionally, the discussion addresses the implications of the ever changing landscape and regulations regarding PPACA, and the changing roles and responsibilities of employers and HR professionals with regards to employee benefits, in the context of being offered both inside and outside the state run Exchange.
HR Professionals gain greater insight into their requirements under Federal law, as well as benefits options, offerings and availability within the State Exchange.
