Currently employed Geriatric Nursing Assistants may safely prepare, administer and chart routine medicines.

AHE-588 Medicine Aide Training

Total number of hours: 74 hours

Licensure/certification earned: Eligible to become a Certified Medicine Aide by the Maryland Board of Nursing

Total approximate cost: $700

Prerequisites: College placement tests for reading and math; minimum 1 year full time employment as a GNA; letter of recommendation from the Director of Nursing at their place of employment; current, active CNA/GNA certification.

Requirements: This course requires study time outside class and includes tests which the student must pass prior to starting the clinical experience. Must have negative TB test/Chest Xray within the last year, Hepatitis immunity or waiver.
