Mission Statement

The Reading department at Carroll Community College seeks to prepare students to transition successfully into college level coursework with the ability to demonstrate mastery of metacognitive reading and learning strategies and college level textbook reading skills.

Program Goals

• Goal 1: Students will demonstrate mastery of essential words for college.
• Goal 2: Students will demonstrate the use of metacognitive strategies for learning tasks.
• Goal 3: Students will demonstrate mastery of textbook reading strategies.
• Goal 4: Students will demonstrate the ability to apply literal and critical reading skills to a variety of texts.
