Academic Program - Mathematics
The mission of the Mathematics Department is to provide students with preparation and quality instruction in all areas of mathematics. Upon completion of their mathematics coursework, students will have college-level problem-solving skills and a greater critical thinking ability.
- Goal 1: To use a variety of models and methods in order to define, represent and solve mathematical problems.
- Goal 2: To communicate mathematical reasoning symbolically, verbally and in writing.
- Goal 3: Use critical thinking and problem solving skills to analyze and assess the validity of mathematical information.
- Goal 4: Effectively use technology to communicate, collect, display and analyze information.
Coursework in this discipline is comparable to that found in the first two years of a four year college or university.
