Mission Statement

The Education program offers quality instructional programs, grounded in relevant research, which prepares pre-service, conditional, and in-service teachers to lead and teach in a changing, globally influenced world. Many graduates from this program transfer to four-year college/universities with a concentration in elementary, secondary, and K-12 special education. A significant number of students complete Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) approved Resident Teacher Academies and coursework to meet MSDE initial teacher certification or renewal.

Program Goals

• Goal 1: Students will be able to connect theory with classroom practice.
• Goal 2: Students will understand and apply practices and behaviors characteristic of developing career teachers.
• Goal 3: Students will be able to identify current issues in and their impact on Education
