CAD-206, Solid Modeling

Course Description

CAD-206, Solid Modeling, introduces the student to the subject of solid modeling as a method of creating and editing solid entities. Students will examine the key functions of solid modeling programs such as AutoDesk's Inventor in the development, editing and use of solid models in design analysis and communication. Prerequisite: CAD-101, or permission of the coordinator. Two hours lecture, two hours laboratory each week. Three credits. Three billable hours.

1. Demonstrate an understanding of the application of the solid modeling software to parametric modeling. P7 

2. Demonstrate the functioning and operation of solid modeling software. P9 

3. Demonstrate understanding of the Parent/Child relations in parametric modeling. P7, GE2 

4. Create models, form sketches, dimensions and constraints. P7, GE5 

5. Develop two-dimensional drawing from solid models. P8 

6. Create, edit, and view drawings of parts and multi-part assemblies in 3D. P8, GE7
