Center Holds Ceremony for First CNA Graduates

Mt. Airy, Maryland, —Three months after opening its doors, the Mt. Airy College Center for Health Care Education will graduate its first class of Certified Nursing Assistant students today at 5:30 p.m. The event will be held in room 114 at 1902 Back Acre Circle in Mt. Airy.

Eight graduating students represent the three partnering institutions—Carroll, Howard, and Frederick Community Colleges. Four students are from Carroll Community College (Carroll).

The partnership among the three community colleges is the only one of its kind in Maryland. The collaboration was created to provide training to students who seek in-demand jobs in the health care field. With support from a $1 million federal grant in 2010, the community colleges worked together to share resources and to lease 15,750 square-feet of academic support space. The center opened in fall, 2012.

Certified Nursing Assistant training is one of 17 career or transfer Nursing and Allied Health concentration options that are offered at the center. The winter/spring term begins Feb. 11, 2013. An Open House will be held Jan. 16 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. For more information, please call (301)829-7100.
