Income Tax Assistance is Available
Westminster, Md., Dec. 16, 2009-Trained and certified student tax assistors from Carroll Community College will be preparing income tax returns for members of the community through the IRS's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. Returns are prepared free of charge from Feb. 2 through April 15, 2010.
VITA offers free assistance to those with low-to-moderate incomes, including persons with disabilities and the elderly. Taxpayers in these categories who file Form 1040EZ, Form 1040A, or basic Form 1040 Federal tax returns are qualified to take advantage of this service.

Items to bring to your appointment:
" photo identification
" your Social Security card
" wage and earning statements (W-2) from all employers
" interest statements from banks (Form 1099)
" a copy of last year's tax return, if available
" other relevant information about income and expenses
