Carroll Community College to Host Elizabeth Holtry Exhibit
Elizabeth Holtry: Paradoxical Beauty and Harshness will be on display Sept. 17 through Oct. 27, 2006 in the Scott Center at Carroll Community College, 1601 Washington Road, Westminster. An opening reception will be held Sept. 17 from 2 to 4 p.m.
Elizabeth Holtry lives in Frederick. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in studio art from the University of Maryland, College Park and a Master of Fine Arts degree in painting from the University of Cincinnati. She is an associate professor of visual arts at Mount St. Mary's University in Emmitsburg, Md.
This show represents ideas about the oppression of women, which parallels with ideas about the environment. Over the past 15 years, her works have been exhibited at regional and national venues, including the Jones Center for Contemporary Art, Signal 66, the Hooks-Epstein Gallery, American University and more.
The Gallery in the Scott Center is open Monday through Thursday, from 7:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
