Carroll Community College Announces Two New Art Exhibitions

Westminster, Md., —Carroll Community College (Carroll) hosts art exhibitions in a variety of media and styles by students and regional and nationally celebrated visual artists. The college also hosts opening receptions for selected exhibitions, which are open to the public and college community.

“Sherrill Cooper: Two Paths, One Journey” will open in the Gallery in the Scott Center on Sunday, Sept. 15 and will continue through Friday, Oct. 11.

The opening reception will be held on Sunday, Sept. 15 from 2-4 p.m.

Sherrill Cooper paints in a tree house studio in the middle of an oak forest in Carroll County. Like many artists before her, Cooper has pursued a successful 30-year career as an illustrator. Because of quick deadlines, oil paint as a medium was never a practical option for illustration. Now that she has the luxury of using this medium, she finds it a natural progression of her artistic growth. She seeks to distill all of her experiences into each painting with her fresh concepts, strong design sensibilities, emotional brushstrokes and rich textural color. In addition to numerous illustration and painting awards, she is represented by several galleries and has work in private and corporate collections throughout the world. She is a member of the Oil Painters of America.

“The Carroll County Artists Guild, Out of the Studio” will open in the Babylon Great Hall on Monday, Sept. 16 through Thursday, Oct. 10. There is no opening reception scheduled.

The Carroll County Artists Guild has been an annual favorite for almost two decades at Carroll. Their work and membership has grown and changed over time and reflect a diverse spectrum of talent and media. Each exhibit is a crowd-pleaser and a testament to the dedication and motivation of local artists and art organizations.
