Nancy Olyha and Misty Remington: Paintings and Photographs Exhibit
Nancy Olyha & Misty Remington: Paintings and Photographs will be on display Sept. 17 through Oct. 27, 2006 in the Langdon Gallery at Carroll Community College, 1601 Washington Road, Westminster. An opening reception will be held Sept. 17 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
The exhibits theme "Abstracts in Everyday Life" will include abstract paintings by Misty Remington, which show beauty in everyday life and photographs by Nancy Olyha, featuring abstraction of realistic themes. Nancy Olyha and Misty Remington have both been involved in artistic endeavors for most of their lives.
Misty Remington lives and paints in Rockville. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in visual/performing arts - visual arts from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. She is a member of The Art League in Alexandria, Va. and an artist member of Strathmore in North Bethesda, Md. She works primarily with acrylic on canvas, but occasionally branches out into three-dimensional media and photography.
Nancy Olyha is a photographer and long-time Carroll County resident. She completed coursework in art history, photojournalism and photography. Olyha is inspired by patterns formed through interplay of light and shadow. Some of her images are further enhanced using Photoshop. She is a an artist member of Strathmore in North Bethesda, Md., and a member of the Art League in Alexandria, Va., the South Carroll Fine Arts League in Sykesville, Md., and the National Association of Photoshop Professionals.
This is their first exhibit together. They have exhibited individually at Strathmore in Rockville and the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, Va.
The Langdon Family Gallery is open Monday through Thursday, from 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.; Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
