Carroll Community College (Carroll) Students Mentor Shiloh Middle School Students in STEM Field
Westminster, Md., Students from Carroll will volunteer with middle school students at Shiloh Middle School to make the application of mathematics concepts to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) come alive. The event will take place at Shiloh Middle School in Hampstead, Md. on April 13.
The intent of the collaboration is for college students to showcase exciting, enjoyable hands-on (and) educational activities for the entire seventh grade class at the middle school to illustrate the value of mathematics in STEM fields.
The mathematics showcase includes fractions, interest rates, integers, proportions, probability, ratios and graph and scatter plots, as they relate to chemistry, engineering, and biology.
Parents will also be invited to observe the student interaction. Parents of students in Shiloh Middle School who are interested in attending this event may contact the middle school directly.
