Many new camps are available through the weekly summer enrichment program, which was voted in 2010 as a Best of Carroll Day Camp (honorable mention) by the Carroll County Times.
New Offerings
New camps are in all program categories and  include Asian Mange Art, ceramics, Nursing Camp, Science Behind Special Effects, Fiction Factory, Percy Jackson Adventures, Games Galore, new Super Science camps, Circus Camp and more..
A new category called World View Kids emphasizes the global society in which we live and stresses the importance of awareness of different cultures. Classes include Around the World to Japan; Campamento Piñata; Empires and Aliens: Only You Can Save the World; Fun with Spanish; and Model United Nations. World View Kids helps broaden perspectives and ways of thinking about peoples from other walks of life.
Director of Lifelong Learning and Program Support Systems Sally Long said “Each camp explores a topic in depth. It is important to keep students coming back and pursuing new interests. That is one reason it is important to offer new programs. Each summer, children come back to something new or fresh, even if it is related to a previous experience.”
Family Response
Families whose children participate in Summer!Kids@Carroll offer positive feedback about the program. “Parents tell us that Summer!Kids@Carroll is well-organized in terms of pick-up and drop-off and that all camp logistics are well-run. We are kid-and parent-friendly, so parents can have peace of mind when they leave their children at Carroll Community College,” said Long.
