Carroll Community College Hosts "Green" Conference Panel Presentation

Westminster, Md., On Sept. 17 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., a conference called "$taying in the Black by Going Green" will be held at Carroll Community College. The college's Miller Entrepreneurial Institute, in conjunction with Sustainable Carroll, is sponsoring the presentation.

The event features Jeff Blackman from McCormick & Company as the keynote speaker.  Blackman is the Sustainable Manufacturing Manager for McCormick & Company, the world's leading producer of spices and seasonings.  In this role, he establishes best practices for McCormick's retail manufacturing and distribution facilities for energy-efficiency, renewable energy, waste reduction, and other sustainability initiatives. Blackman will also address the manner in which McCormick introduced energy-efficiency in their plants while retaining profitable operations.

Small business owners and individuals will learn that such practices are also being done on a smaller scale right here in our county. Seven panel members from Carroll County businesses will speak about their own experiences in introducing energy-saving and sustainable practices in their businesses and locations.  In addition, the panel members will provide information about programs available for businesses to save energy while retaining profits.

Exhibitors will be set up at tables to support the event. The cost is $19, including a hot breakfast. Registration is required. Please e-mail to register or for more information.
