Carroll Community College and University of Maryland
Baltimore County Sign Two Articulation Agreements
Westminster, Md., Oct. 7, 2009--Carroll Community College (Carroll) recently signed two articulation agreements with University of Maryland Baltimore County (U.M.B.C.) that ensure the complete transferability of two community college degree programs to two U.M.B.C. programs:
Carroll's A.A. in Business Administration- Management Information Systems to U.M.B.C.'s B.A. in Technical Administration;
and Carroll's A.A.S. in Computer Information Systems to UMBC's B.S. in Information Systems.
These articulation agreements are important to currently enrolled students and are of interest to prospective students as well. U.M.B.C. is the second most popular transfer destination among Carroll graduates.
The agreement identifies a clear path for students who want to transfer to U.M.B.C. so that they may know exactly what courses to take and how they are applied at U.M.B.C., according to Kate Demarest, chair of the Department of Business and Information Technology at Carroll.
"Management Information Systems as a career field is experiencing a resurgence in interest and potential availability of positions in the workplace," said Dr. James Ball, vice president of Academic and Student Affairs. "Companies are looking to hire because computer systems help to create efficient organizations. Companies rely on information systems managers to assist in keeping operational costs in balance," he said.
