Celebrate Accomplishments at Recognition Ceremony
Over 30 students in the Adult Education program at Carroll Community College will participate in a recognition ceremony on Sunday, Oct. 19 at 2 p.m. The event will be held in the Theater in the Scott Center. This is the first ceremony the college has organized for adults who have completed General Education Development (GED) and External Diploma Programs (EDP), and earned their high school diplomas.
Carroll Community College Dr. Faye Pappalardo will be the keynote speaker at the ceremony. Students who completed their studies will also share remarks with the audience. Family and friends of students have been invited to attend the ceremony.
For years, Carroll County Public Schools administered Adult Education. Beginning July 1, 2007, the college began offering Adult Education classes after receiving a state grant that funds programs for eligible Carroll County residents.
"For so many students, this is an important day. Students have received actual high school diplomas from the state upon completion of their programs. The recognition event, however, represents an opportunity for students and their loved ones to celebrate their accomplishments in a public way," said Becki Maurio, director of adult education at Carroll Community College.
