Local Businesses Form Carroll County Manufacturing Consortium
On May 21, 2007, the Carroll County Manufacturing Consortium held its first organizational meeting at Carroll Community College to address issues of mutual concern.
Topics addressed were apprenticeship training, regional wage data overview, recruitment and retention of workforce, the Governors Workforce Investment Board's skill standards project, and collaborative marketing.
The next meeting will be held June 21, 2007, at 9:30 a.m. at Carroll Community College, 1601 Washington Road, Westminster.
Twelve companies attended, including IntelliTech Inc., Evapco Inc., Shelter Systems Limited, Universal Forest Products Inc., GT Brothers Inc., Maple Grove Machining, General Dynamics Robotics Systems Inc, Black and Decker Inc, MasterWorks Machining, Inc, Western Industrial Machining Inc., Fairlawn Tool and Die Company Inc, and Flowserve Pump Division.
Carroll Community College facilitated the meeting. Also attending the meeting as business resources were representatives from the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development, Carroll County Department of Economic Development, the TIME Center, Community College of Baltimore County, the Maryland Technology Extension Service, and Carroll County Public Schools.
The consortium members will assist each other in collaborative training efforts, workforce development, resume sharing, marketing opportunities and networking. Other regional manufacturers are invited to participate.
