Sharpen Your Photography Know-How And Flair In Time For Summer Adventures At Carroll Community College

Summer adventures are just around the corner - vacations, kid's events, sports, family reunions, the great outdoors and gardens in full bloom. Get ready today to capture these once-in-a-lifetime moments like a pro! Carroll Community College offers a variety of photography courses from selecting a camera to subject selection, composition and exposure control to make your pictures a work of art.

Instructors Bill Ryan and Kevin Mick are at the top of their class. Bill Ryan, chief photographer for the Gazette Newspapers in Frederick, Carroll and Montgomery Counties, knows how to use a picture to say 1000 words. Whether its news, sports or portraits he is there to show you the latest techniques in photography. Kevin Mick exhibits at Oregon Ridge Nature Center and Dundalk Gallery. His relaxed teaching style encourages beginner and experienced students to learn and grow.

Introduction to Photography
Learn the basic principles of 35 mm single lens reflex (SLR) photography through hands-on film and digital SLR experiences. You will use your own 35 mm film or digital camera for in- and out-of-class assignments designed to familiarize you with aperture settings and shutter speed, meter functions to determine exposure, lenses and accessories, and how light and composition affect photographs.
