Works by Pam Zappardino on Display at Carroll Community College

Pam Zappardino: Multiple Views, Mixed Media will be on display April 23, 2007 through May 25, 2007 in the Gallery in the Scott Center at Carroll Community College. A reception will be held Sunday, May 6, 2007 from 2 to 4 p.m.

Zappardino, a photographer and mixed media artist, has won artistic excellence awards at several shows. Her work has appeared in publications such as Dirty Linen, Carroll Magazine, and Urbanite and has also been featured as cover art for a number of CD's.

"I  love the challenge of finding the right angle, composing the best photo, getting the light just
the way I want it" Zappardino says.  "When I look through the viewfinder…I see through the surface layers to what's really there.  Pieces of stuff sometimes add to the mix.  I like unusual juxtapositions.   I'm the agent of all of this, but it I don't think about it too hard, and just go where the work wants to take me."  "Multiple Views" will feature an eclectic mix of photographic work including mixed media pieces and installations.

Pam Zappardino is also the regional director for the United Way Community Partnership of Carroll County, and an adjunct faculty member at McDaniel College, the University of Rhode Island, and Carroll Community College.  She is the Carroll County Times' art critic and holds a doctoral degree in Psychology from the University of Rhode Island. A graduate of Leadership Maryland and Leadership Carroll, she also serves on numerous boards.

The Gallery in the Scott Center is open Monday through Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The college is located at 1601 Washington Road, Westminster.
