Dr. Faye Papparlardo Named One of Maryland's
Top 100 Women for 2005
Dr. Faye Pappalardo, president of Carroll Community College, has been named one of Maryland's Top 100 Women in 2005 by The Daily Record, a publication based in Baltimore. Dr. Pappalardo will be officially recognized on May 18, 2005, at an awards ceremony at the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall in Baltimore, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Dr. Pappalardo joins a group of businesswomen, community members, and mentors who also will be recognized during the evening.
"To be included in this statewide recognition is a personal and professional honor. I am particularly pleased because the award reflects well on Carroll Community College," said Dr. Pappalardo.
Dr. Pappalardo has served as president of the college since 1999 and began her career at the college in 1988. She is considered a faculty and staff mentor, and volunteers significant amounts of time to the community, in addition to her responsibilities as president.
This year is the 10th anniversary of the Maryland's Top 100 Women program. The criteria for selection include meeting professional, volunteer and mentoring standards. In order to be eligible for the honor, winners must reside or work in Maryland. They cannot be named winners in consecutive years.
Each nominee supplies an application, and then, a preliminary round of judging reduces the number of candidates to 150 women. According to The Daily Record, the task of selecting the 100 award-winners from these candidates then goes to an outside panel of judges representing a cross-section of the state and industry. The March 18th issue of The Daily Record first published a list of all of the winners. The Maryland's Top 100 Women Magazine will include profiles of all 100 women and will be inserted in the May 20th edition of The Daily Record.
Carroll Community College is conveniently located at 1601 Washington Rd. in Westminster, Md.
