Film Discussions and Lectures

"Not in Our Town II"
Wednesday, Oct.17; 7 p.m.
Free
Theater in the Scott Center

This film tells several compelling stories about people working to create hate-free towns, cities, workplaces and schools. A Klan rally is countered with a diversity celebration, young people discuss how hate crimes affect their lives, office workers discover that improved communication skills can ease racial tensions and create a more harmonious workplace, and a town finds that preventing hate before it starts is the best solution.

The film will be followed by a discussion led by Carroll students and facilitated by Dr. Michael Stovall, assistant professor of sociology and Dr. Robert Young, assistant professor of history.

"Finding Kind"
Tuesday, Nov. 27; 7 p.m.
Free
Theater in the Scott Center

The two female documentary makers state, “The Kind Campaign… is a movement and a documentary that brings awareness and healing to the negative and lasting affects of girl-against-girl ‘crime.’ We can all be kind.”

The film will be followed by an activity and discussion led by the Early Childhood Education Club.
